Therapeutic Sound
Needing to relax, unplug, or find the inner strength
or internal resources to cope with the stress and increased
pace of daily life?
Vicki offers sound healing modalities in individual and group settings in a way that combines therapeutic sound and meditative techniques to facilitate states of relaxation by balancing physical, emotional and mental aspects of the body.
The stress of modern life often leads to feeling disconnected from ourselves which produces a range of symptoms (such as anxiety, depression, sleep problems) and even physical pain and illnesses.
These symptoms arise when branches of the nervous system become disconnected or out of balance with each other. In some philosophical systems, these branches are called energy centers or chakras, associated with specific physical and emotional aspects of our being.
By balancing emotional, physical and mental dimensions of our experience, we are able to relate to ourselves, others and the world in a more harmonious, integrated manner. This creates the healing environment for recovery and facilitates the effectiveness of a range of therapeutic methods.
In my therapeutic work with sound, I seek to help people learn how to open themselves up to the healing potential of sound and guide them through this experience.
Sound is a proven healing or stress management resource because of its power to connect body, mind and spirit or in Western neuroscience terms, to help balance different branches of the nervous system. There is compelling new research into the biological foundations of the means by which sound healing tools and techniques work that link it into modern approaches to improving emotional regulation through polyvagal and related techniques.
What does the research support?
Research on sound healing shows significant benefits for:
- Stress reduction and relaxation
- Balancing energy levels (or branches of the nervous system); regulating the nervous system
- Enhanced mood and emotional healing
- Increased imagination
- Regulating our emotions
- Enhancing cognitive function (promoting alertness, focus and creativity)
- Supporting calmer and clearer thinking
- Improving anxiety, depression, or emotional trauma
- Lowering inflamation and Improving symptoms of autoimmune and chronic health conditions (such as Parkinson’s Disease, arthritis, high blood pressure, heart disease)
- Improving sleep
- Pain management and physical healing
- Mind-body connection (heightened self-awareness assists therapeutic approaches that draw on mindful self-awareness)
